Many crypto projects have found it challenging to survive beyond the initial airdrop, as participants often cash out immediately. Hamster Kombat, a new entrant in the crypto gaming world, might soon be facing a similar fate.
Players Likely To Earn Max $10!
According to various predictions, most Hamster Kombat players are expected to earn a maximum of just $10 each when the HMSTR token starts trading on major exchanges like Binance and OKX. The trading is set to commence on Thursday, September 26 at 12:00 PM UTC. This projection comes after the game’s airdrop faced controversy earlier this week due to allegations of unfair distribution.
Hamster Kombat disqualified 2.3 million users in September, sending out a card to users stating “Cheating is bad.” This move was intended to protect the rewards of legitimate gamers ahead of its airdrop and token launch on the TON network.
Interestingly, only 43% of users, or 131 million people, who played the game since its launch as a mini-app on Telegram on March 26, received the HMSTR airdrop. Around 2.3 million users were banned for cheating, and the majority did not meet the criteria. Hamster Kombat claims to have 300 million players, making it the biggest “clicker game.”
A last-minute announcement revealed that 11.25% of the 60 billion HMSTR tokens allocated to community members for Season 1 would be locked for 10 months. This means users will not be able to sell those tokens before the end of the lock-up period.
Other points of contention include the small size of the token allocation to regular players, the banning of some legitimate gamers, and influencers receiving a larger airdrop than community members. After the airdrop allocation results were published on September 21, users who felt unfairly treated attacked the game with hashtags like #BoycottHamster and #HamsterIsScammer.
Estimates suggest that the HMSTR token will likely experience high volatility when it hits the market.
High Volatility For HMSTR Post Listing?
Early predictions suggest that the price of HMSTR will range between $0.001 and $0.005 per token, based on previous Binance Launchpool listings and the excitement surrounding the platform’s play-to-earn (P2E) features.
Crypto analyst Gautamgg compared Hamster Kombat to Notcoin, the first tap-to-earn project to launch on the TON blockchain. NOT, the native token of Notcoin, listed at a price of $0.0075 and reached a market cap of $700 million.
Criticisms Surround Hamster Kombat
Notably, Gautamgg expects HMSTR to list at a price between $0.008 to $0.009 per token, similar to NOT. Based on the circulating supply of approximately 60 billion tokens, he projected that HMSTR’s first-day total market cap would be between $504 million and $567 million.
His predictions indicate that if you hold 1,000 HMSTR tokens, they will likely be valued at $8 upon listing, based on a price of $0.008 per token. However, he expects the price to plummet soon after listing.
In a social media post, the analyst criticized the Hamster Kombat team for “lacking experience.” He noted that “they’re making significant money from YouTube (views and ads) by promoting this. It’s evident their focus is on profiting from content.” He also pointed out that the project lacks any practical use case or utility and does not have an impressive roadmap for the future.
He described the team as “unprofessional,” stating that they behaved like social media influencers, pushing people to sign up on exchanges using referral codes. The team made everyone sign up before the airdrop allocation to fulfill some undisclosed deals for money. He also highlighted the lack of transparency regarding its founders and core team members as a major red flag.
Despite reaching over 300 million users, Hamster Kombat failed to win the TON Open League Contest, indicating potential issues within the project. The team has not addressed the viral complaints, except for taking the high road in response to players claiming they were wrongfully restricted.
Following the controversy surrounding the airdrop, many users are calling for a boycott of the game and its influencers. Numerous videos of YouTubers promising substantial airdrops from HMSTR are now circulating, with these influencers blaming the Hamster Kombat team while pretending to support the community. These instances are being referred to as willful deception.
