In an exciting week for the cryptocurrency market, over $1.5 billion in crypto tokens are set to be released, significantly increasing the circulation of several major tokens. Leading this wave are the substantial unlocks for TIA, SUI, MEME, OP, IMX, ZETA, TRIBL, DYDX, GAL, ADA, and AGI, among others. These releases prompt a crucial question for investors: will this influx result in swift price declines, and is it wiser to hold or sell?
TIA and SUI Lead the Unlocking of Events
Among the prominent token unlocks, TIA is preparing to inject a staggering $923.42 million worth of tokens into the market. This move represents approximately 81.68% of TIA’s current circulating supply, which could significantly impact its market value and trading behavior. According to Tokenomist, this single large-amount release is part of a broader trend that includes other tokens like SUI, MEME, OP, IMX, ZETA, TRIBL, DYDX, GAL, ADA, and AGI.
Following closely, SUI is set to release 64.19 million tokens, valued at around $111.06 million, which constitutes about 2.32% of its circulating supply. While smaller in percentage compared to TIA, this substantial release could still affect SUI’s market price and liquidity. Other tokens, including MEME, OP, IMX, ADA, and AGI, are also gearing up for their releases, further expanding the market supply.
Linear Unlocks for SOL and WLD
In addition to the singular large unlocks, several tokens are scheduled for “linear” releases, which involve gradual distribution over time. Notable among these are SOL, WLD, TAO, AVAX, DOGE, SEI, NEAR, DOT, BEAM, and FIL.
Solana (SOL), for example, will gradually release 524,000 tokens worth approximately $92 million, a mere 0.1% of its current circulating supply. Meanwhile, Worldcoin (WLD) is also preparing for a significant unlock, with 37.23 million tokens set to be distributed, valued at $75.20 million, and making up 6.45% of its circulating supply.
How Will These Unlocks Impact the Market?
As these tokens flood the market, we might witness shifts in prices and trading volumes due to the increased supply. Large unlocks could sway buying or selling trends, while smaller unlocks, such as those for SOL and WLD, might lead to more subtle adjustments. With more tokens entering circulation, investors should brace for potential short-term volatility in these assets.
